Numero 5

Here we go again, I guess. I will keep this one shorter because I don't feel like writing an email for 30 minutes again lol. This week was fast and slow at the same time. Some days were extremely slow but some days were super fun. We had hardly any success this week and struggled to get anyone to open their doors so that's unfortunate but I had a lot of interesting experiences as well so that's pretty chill.

Ok first off, the week started off so fuego. We had a new missionary orientation in Bellevue which was like 4 hours long but it was cool to catch up with all the guys I flew here with. Buttttt on the way home we drove through Seattle and it was so awesome. I couldn't stop smiling for some reason and I was just so happy to be here and that I am able to serve the Lord for two years. Ha, that didn't last long lol.
Thursday was the slowest day ever! For some reason I was pretty tired and just wanted to sleep all day but obviously that isn't an option. We knocked soooo many doors because none of our lessons followed through and nobody would answer their doors so we just kept pressing on. However, big however, I got 2 great stories out of Thursday Lol.

The Library...
For Spanish study me and my comp go to the library for an hour so we can watch youtube videos and it's all around just a chill vibe. Well the first day we go to the library, obviously I get my library card and everything. Anyways apparently the library is like the hub for homeless people because ititss warm and free. Anyway we were just chillin, studying Spanish when we hear these two dudes just yelling at each other and everyone in the library was like what is going on? Apparently one dude was spitting on another dude idk tbh. But I look over and the front desk people are calling the police and I'm like yo I am not sitting in a good place cuz I was literally right next to them. Then like 3 minutes later I hear this loud Bang, and I look back and books are falling off a shelf and then like 3 seconds later these two dudes come around the corner and they were like wrestling and throwing each other into the walls and punching each other. It was honestly kinda scary but it was so funny. Then some other homeless dude tried helping break it up so he jumped on one of the dudes and held his arms back and so the other guy was just getting free shots at his face and I'm all like brother, let the man fight, your just making it worse. But after like a minute the cops showed up and got it all sorted out but it was really funny.

The Second story was when we were out knocking doors. At this point we had knocked probably around 40 ish doors in a trailer court and had hardly anyone answer. As we were walking back to our car I saw this house and I was like lets hit this one on the way back. Anyway we go up to the door and like 65ish year old Hawaiian dude answered and he was a Jehovahs Witness. He was actually really glad to see us going around teaching people and heagrees with everything we do so that was chill. Anyways all the sudden he told us that 2 months ago he lost his 45 year old son to a heart attack. And this guy was just crying and telling us how he's so glad he knows that there is life after death and how his son was super faithful so he knows he will be good in heaven. He was super emotional, he almost had me crying but after he had told us what happened he said that before we knocked on his door, he had been cleaning out his sons room because he lived with his parents because he loved them so much he didn't want to leave them. I could tell this was really hard for him because he cried like 5 times talking to us but he said that day he had been praying that someone would come to his door to talk to him and help take some of the pain off his shoulders and he said we were the angels he was praying for and although we didn't teach him anything because we were just listening and being there for him, it was such a cool experience to have an impression like that and to have the confirmation that that was where we were supposed to be even tho the day was very unsuccessful!

Baptism
We had a baptism this week, well technically it was the hermanas baptism but we helped to haha. It was really cool to be apart of my first baptism in Spanish. It was really cool because girl that was getting baptized was baptized by her older brother who was baptized a year ago. Overall a really cool experience and can't wait till I have a baptism of my own.

Another connection I had was we were teaching this guy named Nathan. As we were visiitng about where were from and apparently he's from Mattawa and went to Wahluke so that was cool. He graduated in 2020 though so he thought we were still super good at football and I was like nope, that ship has sailed a long time ago lol. But it was cool to talk to him about things like that.

Member meals are cracked. We low key don't get fed that often by members but when we do it's so good. They make the best food not gonna lie. Even though I panic when they talk to me cuz I have no idea what to say the food is really good.

I think that's about it, there was a lot of stuff that happened but I don't really have time to explain it all and get into detail but its ok haha. My Spanish is not getting much better. I don't use it nearly as much as I thought I would because when we are knocking doors the odds of them either speaking english or a random language is way higher then them speaking spanish. Oh well it'll get there eventually. I can sort of hold my own when speaking but I just can't understand a word that is said to me and it's really bad haha. Like today a dude was literally just spelling his name in ENGLISH and I look at my comp like what did he just say and he was like, thats his name and im like ohhhh. I swear my brain works at like 10% speed when peopole are speaking to me but it's all good. Slow and steady baby!

I hope all of you are doing absolutely fantastic! I'm definitely surviving but I wouldn't quite say thriving. Hopefully this week looks a lot better success wise. It don't matter though, the Lord knows we are trying our best out here and it's his will not mine. Just gotta keep pressing forward and I know I will see the blessings come from it.
